The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced that it will commence enforcement of the statutory disclosure requirements contained in Section 304 & 729 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020 (CAMA) with effect from 1st day of August 2026.

The announcement serves as an important reminder that statutory compliance extends beyond corporate filings. It also encompasses the information that companies are required to disclose on specified business communications and official publications.

Among other requirements, companies are expected to ensure that prescribed corporate information including; the registered company name, registration number and Name of Directors are reflected on applicable communications in accordance with the provisions of CAMA.

As businesses increasingly rely on electronic correspondence and digital documentation, organizations may wish to review whether their communication templates, electronic letterheads, invoices, quotations, email signatures and other official publications remain aligned with statutory requirements.

While the disclosure obligations themselves are not new, the commencement of enforcement underscores the importance of periodic corporate compliance reviews and sound governance practices.

The implementation of statutory disclosure requirements is an integral aspect of corporate governance and regulatory compliance. Businesses should therefore take the opportunity to review their existing corporate communication processes in anticipation of the commencement of enforcement.
